On my most recent trip to Australia I spent a week exploring Tasmania. This is the country’s only island state – and the one most likely to be skipped over on your itinerary.

But Tasmania deserves to be better known. This is a wild place, the sort of place people speak about in hushed, reverential voices. It is delightfully unspoiled, geographically diverse and largely protected from tourist development.
