Who I am
I went to school in Devizes, Wiltshire before studying Drama and Theatre Studies at the University of Kent in Canterbury. I also spent a year studying Theatre and Spanish at the University of California, San Diego.
I began my journalism career at Guardian News and Media in 2005, where I spent three years working on advertorials and sponsored features for clients as diverse as Sony and the Spanish tourist board, as well as editorial products, including the award-winning monthly "Guardian Guides to..." and regular content for the travel section.
Now freelance, I write both editorial and commercial features for a range of newspapers, magazines and websites. I specialise in travel, particularly to the UK, the USA and Australia and am also an author for Rough Guides and Michelin, having most recently worked on the current Rough Guide to Australia and Michelin Green Guide to London.
I am also a copywriter and have written and edited advertorials and commercial content for a wide range of clients, including Virgin Holidays, Holiday Extras and the national tourist boards of Spain, Holland and the UK.
Additionally, I also work as a subeditor and commissioning editor, undertaking regular shifts at Seven Publishing. I have also written and edited an iPhone application entitled Quirky London and worked on apps for a range of clients including Punk Publishing, who produce the Cool apps (Cool Canterbury etc).
I live in Enfield, north London with my husband Douglas.
